World Series Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Viewers Across the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The exciting extra-inning clash where the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a combined 51 million spectators across the United States, Canadian, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball reported this marks the highest-rated Fall Classic finale after the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable contest drew over 27 million viewers on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It additionally is the most-watched Fall Classic game since the 2017 final game between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a 16% increase over the last Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed 4th, the fourth game ranked 7th, Game 5 was eighth, and Game 3 finished in 13th position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game drew 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English broadcast in the country since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest began at 9 PM local time, it averaged 12 million. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – averaged 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Averages and Trends

The full seven-game series drew 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total American viewership reached over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09M watchers, an eight percent increase compared to last year and Fox’s best playoff ratings after 2017.

MLB announced that the World Series was televised in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in sixteen different languages.
